The Blaenau Gwent Self Help group covers Monmouthshire and the surrounding areas.  They welcome all ostomates (colostomates, ileostomates and urostomates), family, carers and supporters.

The group meets on a regular basis on the first Tuesday of every month (excluding January and

August) at the Brynmawr & District Museum, Carnegie Library, Market Square, Brynmawr, NP23 4AJ, from 1.30 p.m. to 3.30 p.m.  The programme is varied, and includes outings in the summer, a

Christmas lunch and informal chats to sort out any problems, which ostomates may be experiencing.

Tea, coffee, cakes and biscuits are available, and a monthly raffle is held to raise funds for the group.

non-medical help and support.

The group meets throughout the year at the YMCA, Angel Street, Bridgend, CF31 4AD, from 1.30 p.m.  Ostomy suppliers attend on a regular basis, and the group also invite guest speakers, who are able to offer information on any local help or issues, which may be relevant.  Refreshments are

The Swansea Ostomy Self Help Group, which was established in 1995, is a non-medical,

non-fundraising group.  Their objective is to provide a social atmosphere, where ostomates and their partners, families and friends can meet and share experiences.  The meetings are sponsored by ostomy

suppliers, who display samples of their product range.  This enables members to see what else is available, keep up-to-date with new products and to order samples.  There is a guest speaker at each meeting, offering talks on a wide range of topics.

The group meets in the afternoon, six times a year, in St. Paul’s Parish Centre, De La Beche Road, Sketty, Swansea, SA2 9AR, which has excellent, free car parking facilities.  In addition, there is an outing in the summer, and a very popular Christmas lunch.

The meetings are informal and friendly, with refreshments provided.
